Abstract
1,214,110. Air heating stoves, gas fired heaters. RESEARCH INSTITUT "SESTO" N.V. 18 April, 1969, No. 19878/69. Headings F4S and F4W. A "Brick Central Unit" comprises a heating source 10 in outer casing walls 1, 2 forming part of adjoining rooms having inlets 13 for air to be heated and outlets 14 for heated air to pass into the rooms. The casing is divided by a horizontal, heat insulating partition 7 into upper and lower chambers, the combustion gases from a gas or liquid fuel fired heater 10 passing into the upper chamber through a vertical flue 11 projecting through the partition. The upper chamber communicates with a smoke duct 17 having an opening which has less cross-sectional area than an air inlet opening 18 to act as a check draught. As shown, the opening 18 is formed at the upper end of a tube 19 projecting through the partition 7 and passing under the floor 5 but, in a modification, the opening 18 may comprise an aperture in a wall of the upper chamber. A heat exchanger 12 may be formed in the flue 11. In a modification, a second heat source for a hot water supply may be mounted in the lower chamber, which source has its own flue projecting upwardly through the partition into the upper chamber.
