Class 64(1) In an air or other fluid heater, a combustion chamber 1 disposed between and spaced from two return flues 10 communicates at one end with them, and the air or other fluid to be heated flows transversely over the combustion chamber through the passages 5 between the latter and the return flues, from an inlet 15 at one side of the combustion chamber to an outlet 16 at the opposite side. A second pair of passages 18 for the air or other fluid is provided outside the return flues 10. Spacers 17, 19 are provided between the flues and combustion chamber and outer casing 14. Part of the air supplied to the inlet 15 flows through a pipe 27 to an oil burner at one end of the combustion chamber. The flues 10 deliver their gases into an annular header connected to a smoke box and chimney flue 13. In modifications, the flues deliver to separate arcuate headers, which either have separate exhausts or are connected to a common exhaust. The walls of the combustion chamber, the flues, and the outer casing may be corrugated, or finned, or both.
