706,174. Air-heating stoves &c. MODE, W. F. May 15, 1951 [March 2, 1950], No. 5273/50. Class 64(1) In an air heater, e.g. an air-heating stove, in which the air passes through ducts 3 which extend within a heating chamber 1 through which hot gases from a heat source, e.g. gas or oil burners 4, flow transversely to the ducts, the lengths of the ducts 3 increase with their distances from the heat source. The ducts 3 may extend, as in Fig. 2, from a central air chamber 2 with a fan 5 at its base to side chambers 13 with louvred outlets 14. The increasing length of the ducts 3 may be obtained by inclining the walls of the contral chamber 2 or of the side chambers 13 or of both, as shown. Alternatively or additionally, the inclination of the ducts 3 to the horizontal increases upwardly. In another form, Fig. 6, horizontal tubes above burners 4 connect the inclined tube plates of headers, and the fan 5 produces a horizontal current of air.
