Abstract
661,776. Steam superheaters. SUPER HEATER CO., Ltd. March 24, 1949 [March 25, 1948], No. 8039/49. Class 123(iii) The gas temperature across the width of a steam superheater, separately fired by transversely-spaced burners 11, is equalized by recirculating some of the exhaust combustion gases therethrough, the said gases being discharged in variable quantities to a plurality of transverse zones of the furnace 10, by a fan 14, through damper-fitted ducts 32-35 each of which terminates in an opening 31 in the floor 30 of said furnace. The superheater preferably comprises tubular elements 50, 51, located in two convection passes 13, 12 between an inlet header 20 and intermediate headers 21, 22, and, with four oil burners 11 fitted, four series 25-28 of tubes which line the inner end wall 29 and floor 30 of the furnace and extend from the latter headers 21, 22 to outlet headers 23, 24. Thermocouples 46 may be installed near the outlet ends of the tubes 25-28 for automatically controlling the dampers 42-45, and the gases not recirculated through the furnaces are preferably led through a duct 37 to a waste heat boiler 15.
