Class 64(1) In an air heater in which hot combustion gases pass from a central chamber 1 to and through exhaust flues 10, 11 spaced on either side thereof, and in which air is heated in flowing transversely over the central chamber and exhaust flues, the heating gases, after leaving the flues 10, 11 and before reaching the outlet 28 pass through one or more extension flues 25 located downstream (with respect to the direction of air flow) of the central chamber and exhaust flues and the air heated by the central chamber and exhaust flues, receives further heat in flowing over the extension flues 25 before it is discharged through ducts 23. In the form shown the air to be heated enters the heater through one or more inlet chambers 18 each supplied by a separate blower (not shown). The heating gases from the chamber 1 may flow through the exhaust flues 10, 11 in a single pass, or these flues may incorporate first and return flues as described in Specification 818,730. The chamber 1 constitutes a combustion chamber at one end of which is a burner head 2 designed to burn a mixture of air and liquid fuel. The apparatus may be used to heat other fluids. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifccations 773,155 and 818,730.
