Abstract

1,115,343. Bottle crates. L. E. FUSCONE. 27 Aug., 1965 [7 Sept., 1964; 8 March, 1965], Nos. 36526/64 and 9747/65. Heading B8P. A bottle crate has rows of bottle-receiving locations 1 and rows of recesses 2 so that the necks of bottles in a lower crate which has been rotated through 90 degrees enter the recesses and the outer profiles of the stacked crates are in vertical alignment. Handles and drainage holes 8 are formed in the crate which is square in plan and cast in a block from plastics material. In a modification, the base of the crate is strengthened by a lattice of ribs which also define the bottle receiving locations and an apertured partition extends across the top of the crate, the apertures guiding the bottles into their locations. A second partition may be included below the first partition and a peripheral recess on the base of the crate ensures that the stacked crates are correctly located. In a further modification, circular bottle receiving locations are formed in the base and posts extending from the base to the partition guide the bottles into their locations. An oblong crate may be constructed from two of the above described crates joined side by side and the crates may also be made of metal, plywood, cardboard, wood or wire.
