Abstract

707,758. Crates. GILL, B. T. Feb. 12, 1952 [July 20, 1951], No. 17306/51. Class 18 A crate comprises top and botttom frames 1, 2 secured to corner posts, the posts having elements forming channels for side and end panels. The frames may be of channel or angle section and be secured to the posts by screws 7 engaging nuts 8 welded into slots 9. A separate member 16 may be secured within each post to form flanges 15 to engage the inner edges of the wall panels, or the tubular portion 10 may be within the crate and form the inner abutment for the walls, Fig. 3. In the latter case the portion 10 may be of square or triangular section. Corner protectors 3 may have side flanges (not shown) extending above the upper frame to assist stacking. The wall panels may be wood, wire or metal sheet.
