Abstract

951,991. Collapsible boxes. TOM M. SCOTNEY Ltd. Oct. 9, 1962 [Dec. 22, 1961], No. 46084/61. Heading B8P. A box, of laminated wood, has a base 1 with a guide batten 2 at each end for locating the lower edges of the ends 3 and spaced apart on each side of the base 1 and sides 3 are pairs of attachment members 4, Fig. 3, for connection with mating members 5, Fig. 4, on the sides 6 of the case. Metal angled strips are provided on the vertical edges of each side 3 and on the lower edge of each side 6 which engage round the edges of the sides 6 and the base 1 respectively. A lid 10 with metal angles on all its edges has sides 11 which fit over the sides and ends of the case and is secured to the sides 6 by toggle fasteners. The dimensions of the box are such that the two sides, the two ends side by side and the base may be stacked on each other inside the lid. The spacing of members 4, 5 ensure that assembly can still take place even if the sides and base become slightly warped.
