Abstract

855,140. Collapsible boxes. NO-NAIL BOXES Ltd. June 10, 1959 [June 12, 1958], No. 18864/58. Class 18. The side panels 3, 5 and end panels 2, 4 of a collapsible box are connected by strip hinges 12, 18 extending the whole length of the panels, and the bottom panel 1 has a reinforcing bent-up flanged strip 19 extending around its periphery and spaced from the edge of the panel to provide channels 25 between the flanges and edges to accommodate the lower edges of the side and end panels. The two hinges 12 are offset inwardly from the side panels to enable the sides to collapse flat. The top 6 is constructed in the same way as the bottom 1. The hinges and the reinforcing strips are secured by integral teeth such as 9 driven through the panels. To facilitate storage of the top and bottom panels the flanged strips 19 have slots 20, 21 which can be interlocked.
