Abstract

826,680. Boxes. BERNARD & CO. Ltd., M. May 9, 1957 [June 27, 1956; Aug. 31, 1956], Nos. 19967/56 and 33226/56. Class 18. [Also in Group XXV] W-section metal strips for a box of the type having four side panels hinged together to form a collapsible tubular structure, have slits 1 extending a short distance inwards at each end along the hinge line, the slits preventing distortion which might interfere with the attaching of end closures. Widened terminal portions 2 prevent cracking. The closures may be panels having attached flanges engaging the side panels externally and battens fitting closely within these side panels, or the panels may fit within the side panels and have flanges as before. Alternatively, two tubular structures may fit one within the other, two sides of one forming end closures of the other. Specification 740,413 is referred to.
