Abstract

868,638. Bottle crates. RICHARDSON CO. Aug. 10, 1959 [Nov. 17, 1958], No. 27226/59. Class 18. A moulded one-piece bottle crate C comprises a series of partitions 15 forming bottle compartments, two flanges 19, 20 extending around. the upper and lower perimeters respectively of the crate and two ribs 21, 22 or 23, 24 on each wall and extending between the flanges 19, 20 to form recesses 25, 26 in which raised advertising indicia are disposed. In one embodiment Figs. 1 and 4, strengthening ribs 37 are formed, on the partitions 15 which are sinusoidal in shape. A continuous recess 33 receives the upper edge of a lower crate when empty crates are stacked. When loaded crates are stacked recesses 35 in an upper crate receive the tops of bottles in a lower crate. Drainage holes may be provided. Projections 36 support the bottle bottoms and assist in drainage. The crate may be made from rubber, polyethylene, polypropylene or a phenolic resin.
