Abstract

1,241,048. Nestable container. FOSTER GRANT CO. Inc. 23 Oct., 1968 [23 Oct., 1967], No. 50424/68. Heading B8D. A container e.g. of moulded plastics has a lid-receiving and stacking portion 18 arranged so that two containers can rest in spaced relationship. The lid-receiving and stacking portion 18 is pivoted above side wall portion 12 and comprises a lid-receiving portion 20 the bottom side 22 of which slopes at an angle b of between 35 and 55 degrees to the axis 16 of the container and forms a ledge. Above the portion 20 a cylindrical ring 26 may be formed separating it from a second supporting ledge 28 which is at a similar angle to ledge 22 and merges with rim 30 and lip 32. Ledges 22 and 28 are so dimensioned that ledge 22 of one container rests on ledge 28 of another container when the containers are nested. The cylindrical ring 26 is provided with vertical protrusions 34 for strengthening and venting.
