Abstract

1,021,840. Moulded bottle crates. WHITE EAGLE INTERNATIONAL Inc. Aug. 4, 1964 [June 2, 1964], No. 31360/64. Heading B8P. A moulded bottle crate has two end walls, two side walls, and a base in which are fixed several slip resistant rubber &c. grommets. Stacking of, the crates is thus facilitated. As shown, a moulded resin &c. bottle crate 10 has rubber grommets 16 in its base. The grommets 16 have annularly positioned protrusions 46, Fig. 3 (not shown), extending from their ground &c. engaging surfaces. Six grommets 16 are located in the positions shown. A square lattice of vertical ribs 12, 12a, 12b make the case 10 rigid. Four partition walls 14 give four individual compartments for six bottles each, but alternatively the ribs 12b may be of the same height as the walls 14, thus giving twenty-four individual compartments. Hollow cylindrical vertical ribs 18 reinforce the partition walls 14 and also act as spacers. Other configurations of the ribs and walls may provide different numbers of compartments, with correspondingly different positions of the grommets 16. At each corner of the crate 10, ribs 22, 26 transmit impact forces between inner and outer walls. Flanges 28, Fig. 2 (not shown), are provided around the upper edges of the outer walls. Triangular hand holds having an upper flange 40, Fig. 3 (not shown), with a gripping surface 42 are provided on each end wall. Apertures may be cut in the intersections of the partitions 14 to reduce the weight of the crate and facilitate drainage of liquids, Fig. 6 (not shown).
