Abstract

873,288. Bottle crates. AMIES & CO. Ltd., W. E. Feb. 10, 1960 [Feb. 11, 1959; March 12, 1959 ; July 1, 1959], Nos. 4838/59, 8659/59 and 22655/59. Class 18. A bottle crate comprises a box having an insert of resilient material consisting of a marginal base 16 secured at the box bottom and hollow integral separator fingers 10 connected by integral webs 11 to form rectangular bottle compartments 15. The fingers 10 of each outermost row have outwardly extending fins 13 in alignment with the webs and joined to the upper surface of the base 16 at strengthened points 19 ; both webs 11 and fins 13 have strengthening ribs 18. The base 16 is secured between the box floor and the side walls. In a modification, Fig. 5, the insert comprises separately moulded upper and lower sections A and B; the lower section A has a base 29 with a surrounding upright flange 30 and hollow bosses 31 with spigot tops 32 connected by partition webs 33, the bosses 31 supporting hollow tubular fingers 37 of the upper section B, and the two sections are secured together by e.g. spindles 39 with hooks 40 engaging cross members of a wire basket 20 for accommodating the insert.
