Abstract

973,724. Bottle crates. PLASTMANT Ltd. Sept. 25, 1963 [Sept. 26, 1962; Oct. 25, 1962], Nos. 36478/62 and 40351/62. Heading B8P. A bottle crate has hollow side and end walls, 11 and 12, moulded integrally of synthetic resinous material. The hollow walls comprise outer and inner walls, 11a 12a and 11b, 12b, connected by spaced parallel ribs 11c, 12c which define rectangular cavities extending from the base towards the mouth of the crate. A base 10 and hollow partition 13 may be moulded integrally with the walls, the base being provided with drainage holes 17 and removable partitions 16. The open lower ends of the walls and partition 13 are closed by a wear-strip 19. Hand holes 18 are provided in the end walls of the crate. In a modification the cavities 14 extend to the tops of the walls which are then bridged by another wear-strip 19. According to the first Provisional Specification, the side walls are joggled to facilitate stacking and all the walls may be apertured to reduce weight and provide hand holes. According to the second Provisional Specification the base may be moulded separately and fixed to the walls by screws.
