Abstract

1,116,049. Plastics containers. CHARLES TENNANT & CO. Ltd., and J. D. L. DIXON. 3 March, 1966 [12 Dec., 1964], No. 50701/64. Heading B8P. A stackable plastics container is made by moulding a hollow closed box and cutting the top of the box peripherally to provide access. The top may be partially out to provide an integral hinged lid or completely to provide an open-topped container. In a particular embodiment a fish-box, Figs. 1 and 4 (not shown), has a hinged lid (5) closing a necked opening surrounded by sloping shoulders (7) with drain channels (14), into which fit ribs (15) on a ridge (12) surrounding the recessed bottom of a similar container when stacked. The ribs (15) have drain holes so that water from the top container will flow through the channels (14) over the sides of the lower container. The ribs (15) may be on the shoulders (7) and the channels (14) on the bottom ridge (12). Recesses (17) with apertures (18) are provided in the end walls to facilitate handling.
