Abstract

1,257,206. Livestock container. BAKELITE XYLONITE Ltd. 18 June, 1970 [18 July, 1969], No. 36288/69. Heading B8P. A container for transporting livestock comprises at least two chambers of substantially circular cross-section, each chamber having a flange 10 and ventilation apertures 12 below the flange, and a lid 15 having a dependent flange 16 extending beneath the level of the apertures 12 and spaced from the wall 7 of the container. There may be a single lid, optionally hinged in the middle, for the container, or separate lids for the chambers. There may be inward protrusions on the flange 16 to engage beneath the flange 10. The base of the container has plinths 4 of greater depth than corresponding recesses 17 in the lid. Ribs (8) are provided on the outside of the container to prevent containers becoming jammed when nested. The container may be nested in or stacked on a pair of containers arranged side-by-side. The container may be injection moulded from polyethylene or polypropylene preferably foamed, or from foamed polyurethane.
