A crate, adapted for nesting and tiering with identical crates, has a bottom part rigidly interconnected with side parts, which include upper and lower tiering support members, whereby the lower tiering support members of one crate are designed to engage and rest upon the upper tiering support members of a second identical crate, with the distance between the upper and lower support members providing a clearway for the purpose of nesting. The crate has a number of rod-like elements forming three closed loops of rectangular shape 21, 23, 25, which are rigidly interconnected by diagonally arranged rods 33. The upper loop 21 has two opposite sides bent downwards to provide the upper tiering support members 13. The intermediate loop 25 and lower loop 23 have two opposite sides 25c and 23c bent downwards and upwards respectively to form a hook-like lower tiering support member 14. The bottom part 11 comprises the lower loop 23 interconnected by transverse rods 31 to which a number of longitudinally extending rods 32 are welded on. In tiering relationship the lower tiering support members 14 engage and rest upon the upper tiering support members 13.-In nesting relationship the upper crate is located telescopically between the shaped diagonal rods 33 as indicated in Fig. 4. Nesting of crates is facilitated by the provision of clearways 15 between the upper and lower tiering support members.
