Abstract

700,102. Bottle crates. BENNETT, J. C. Oct. 30, 1951 [Nov. 1, 1950], No. 26643/50. Class 18. A bottle crate comprises a box-like casing formed of wire rods which is subdivided into compartments by longitudinal and transverse rods k as described in Specification 651,936 and has a pair of rods g, h to each outer side of the outer compartments, the rods g, h being so positioned that a bottle introduced into a compartment can bear on each of the two rods. The two innermost rods forming the ends of the crate are cut short to form openings below the handles i which are formed of sheet metal welded to the ends of a rectangular frame a. Rods j projecting above the upper corners of the crate assist in the stacking of the crates. Each rod g, h is bent so as to form a base rod and two vertical side rods. According to the Provisional Specification, the rods next to the outermost rods, where they form the base may be of triangular formation, the apex being adjacent to the inner rods, and the sides of the crate may be reinforced by rods bent to triangular formation the ends being welded to the lowest rectangular frame d and the apex welded to the frame c.
