Abstract

1,100,457. Refrigerating. EMHART CORPORATION. 24 June, 1965, No. 26770/65. Heading F4H. A removable refrigerating unit 12 comprising a compressor 14, a water-cooled condenser 16 and a finned evaporator 18 is located in a bottom chamber 10 in a refrigerated fixture by means of wheels 22 on rails 24 such that the evaporator forms a refrigerating passage 78, the inlet of which connects with a refrigerated air return outlet 76 while the outlet thereof connects with the inlet 64 to an air supply duct 62 of a display space 56. A fan 80 circulates refrigerated air through said duct 62 across space 56 and down a front return duct 70 to a duct portion 74 below the space and above chamber 10 which is sealed from the passage 78 by flexible barriers 82, 84 which allow removal of the unit 12 for repairs. In a modification, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) the unit 12B comprises an upper evaporator 112 and a fan 114 on top of a lower compressor 116 and condenser 118, both sets of elements being supported by an insulated wall 110 in an upwardly facing opening in the base of the fixture, such that the unit may be removable as before.
