Abstract

1,081,460. Refrigerators. EMHART CORPORATION. Dec. 14, 1965 [Jan. 7, 1965], No. 53004/65. Heading F4H. An open-topped refrigerated display case comprises an evaporator 38 and fan 44 located in a well 34 in the bottom wall of the case, a machinery compartment 40 having a front closure plate 64 and containing a compressor 46 and a water-cooled condenser 48, and water supply and return pipes 58, 60 extending along the front of the case behind plate 64. Pipes 58, 60 have connections 54, 56 including valves 70 to the condenser and may be connected, via couplings 78, to the pipes of other display cases. The pipes may be connected in a closed circuit containing a water cooling coil or tower (Fig. 7, not shown) or to the water mains. A fan is preferably provided in compartment 40 to circulate air over the compressor and condenser, the resultant warm air being passed through louvres in panel 64 to the front of the case and rearwardly beneath the bottom wall of the case. The case is supported on frame members 28, 30, 32 and 20, the latter having apertures 100 to permit airflow therethrough.
