Abstract
1,090,205. Piling. TOT AANNEMING VAN WERKEN VOORHEEN H. J. NEDERHORST N.V. Nov. 5, 1965 [Nov. 11, 1964], No. 46948/65. Heading E1H. In a method of casting a concrete underground wall or so-called diaphragm wall, in situ a rectangular shaft or deep trench 1, Fig. 1, is sunk in the ground and a form or mould 2 is lodged therein adjacent one end thereof with a plate 4 held by the form in alignment with the horizontal longitudinal-axis of the shaft, whereafter the shaft is filled with concrete to form a pile or wall section 5, Fig. 3, having substantially one half of said plate embedded therein. A second shaft 6 is then sunk in the ground adjacent to the form 2 and the form is withdrawn from the shaft 1 leaving the plate 4 lodged in the pile 5, the form being subsequently placed in the shaft 6 adjacent the end thereof which is remote from the shaft 1. A further plate 4 is mounted in the form 2 before the shaft 6 is filled with concrete, the remainder of the wall being rendered by similar steps. The plate 4 is secured in the form 2 by a pair of flexible hoses 16, Fig. 14, which are filled with a pressurized fluide, e.g. air. said fluid being discharged when the form is to be extracted from the shaft. The form has a tapering configuration to facilitate extraction and is provided with a pair of cross-beams (20), Figs. 11 to 13 (not shown), which are engaged by a pair of jacks 22 to effect initial lifting before a hoist is connected to an eyelet (21) at the uppermost end of the form when it is to be extracted from the shaft. The form may be modified, Figs. 16 and 17 (not shown), so that adjacent piles are connected to each other by a tongue (10), Fig. 10, (not shown), one pile engaging with a corresponding groove (9) on the other pile. The plate 4 is made of a material, e.g. metal, which is impervious to water and may include a portion at the middle thereof that is made of rubber to permit movement of the piles relative to one another.
