Abstract

862,630. Driven in-situ piles. DICHT A.G. Aug. 11, 1959 [July 9, 1958], No. 27458/59. Class 68(2). A method of constructing a reinforced concrete driven insitu pile comprises using an outer tube 3 fitted with a concrete driving shoe 2 and an inner tube 4 which has a ramming head 6 and a driving collar 5. A measured quantity of concrete is introduced, into the outer pipe and falls through a passage in the driving head 6. A hammer 7 then drives the tube 4 down, compacts the concrete and when the collar 5 contacts the top of the outer tube (Fig. c), drives the complete assembly into the ground to the required depth. (Fig. e). A second charge of concrete is then introduced through the driving head and is driven down and at the same time the outer tube 3 is lifted so that the driving shoe 2 is left in the ground embedded in an enlarged pile-foot 9. Further charges of concrete are added and tamped as the outer-tube 3 is completely withdrawn. Specification 862,629 is referred to.
