Abstract

1376460 Casting concrete piles COMPAGNIE INTERNATIONALE DES PIEUX ARMES FRANKIGNOUL 29 March 1972 [14 Feb 1972] 14727/72 Heading E1H Apparatus for casting concrete piles in situ comprises a mobile mast 4 supporting a pile driver 6 and a free falling rammer 7, and a tube 8 having a sealing cap on its lower end, the tube being driven into the ground by the pile driver 6, whilst the rammer 7 is supported by a cable 9 traversing a slot 12 in the end of the tube. When the tube 8 is driven to the required depth, a charge of concrete is introduced and the rammer 7 operated to force off the sealing cap and produce compaction of the soil around the base of the tube thus forming an enlarged footing for the pile. The cable 9 may pass through a slot in the hammer 11. The pile may have a metal reinforcement, or a metal sheath to facilitate withdrawal of the tube 8. Alternatively, the tube 8 may be left in the ground after the pile has been cast.
