Abstract
1326136 Concrete piles COMPAGNIE INTERNATIONALE DES PIEUX ARMES FRANKIGNOUL 19 April 1971 [15 Dec 1970] 22706/71 Heading E1H Reinforced concrete piles, cast in situ are formed with an extra thickness of concrete at least where the pile passes through a top soil layer T 1 deleterious to the concrete. In forming a pile, a steel tube 11 closed by a detachable concrete shoe 12 and provided with an encircling ring 13 which may be freely slidable between upper and lower abutments 14, 15 is driven into the ground by a rammer, pile driver or vibrator. The upper abutments 14 thereby force down the ring 13 as the tube is sunk to form an annular space 20. Ironwork reinforcement 16 is inserted through tube 11, shoe 12 is detached and concrete 19 cast through the tube as the latter is withdrawn, the concrete being rammed or vibrated as it is cast. The ring 13 remains at the bottom of space 20 to seal it off until contacted 'by lower abutments 15 which draw it out with the tube.
