Abstract

1352064 Casting concrete piles P C P CHEN 27 March 1972 [8 Jan 1971] 1085/71 Heading E1H A tube 1 used to form a concrete pile has a detachable end cap 2 and a sealing plate 5 through which passes a cement-sand grout supply pipe 6, the cap 2 being held in place whilst the tube 1 is being driven into the ground, but being detached when the tube is withdrawn and grout is injedted through pipe 6. The end cap 2 thus forms a foot for the cast pile. In another arrangement, Fig. 4, the end cap 14 has a cylindrical boss 13 locatable in a bore 12 in a seat 11 fixed to the end of the tube 10, the cap 14 being secured to the seat 11 by means of a chain 16 and spider 15 so that the cap is withdrawn with the tube 10.
