An alloy has the following percentage composition .C.0.01-0.5 .Cr.12-25 .Ni.13-40 .Co.5-30 .Si.0-1.5 .Mn.0-2 .Mo.0.1-5 .W.0.1-5 .V.0.1-5 .Ti.0.1-5 .Al.0.1-5 .Nb.0.1-5 .B and/or Zr.0.001-0.4 .Ta.less than 5 .U.0-2 .Fe.the remainder The alloy may be solution treated at 1000-1200 DEG C. for 1-10 hours and aged at 600-980 DEG C. for 1-50 hours.
