Abstract

1,064,322. Change speed gear. A. MIRFIELD. Dec. 6, 1963 [Sept. 6, 1962], No. 34138/62. Heading F2D. A change speed gear particularly for motor vehicles comprises a driven cone 6 having toothed portions I-IV separated by plain, neutral zone, bands and selectively engageable, by cone movement, with a driving worm 5. The worm 5 is mounted on a common crankshaft 3 of a pair of engine blocks 1, 2. The cone 6 has a squared extension 5A slidingly engaging the square bore of an output shaft 4, and is supported by a frame 7 acted on, for cone movement, by hydraulic rams 8. A clutch 21, preferably hydraulic, may be provided to control the drive from the output shaft.
