Abstract

1328013 Rolling gears MAAG GEAR WHEEL & MACHINE CO Ltd 15 June 1971 [16 June 1970] 28027/71 Heading B3M A gear rolling machine comprises a pair of gear rolling rolls each mounted on a separate shaft with a worm-wheel 14, 15 driven by a hollow worm 13, 16. The worms are internally toothed to engage externally toothed coupling parts 11, 19, 20 on a drive shaft 10 and a coupling shaft 18. The drive shaft 10 is driven by a steplessly variable hydraulic motor 8 through a flexible coupling 9. The gear rolling rolls (5), (6), Fig. 2 (not shown), are each mounted on a slide (2), (3) and the hydraulic motor 8 is mounted on one of these slides. Thus the motor can drive the worms even when the axial separation of the worms is altered. The coupling parts 11, 19, 20 are part spherical to allow yawing of the worms. In an alternative form the shafts are splined.
