Abstract

1,221,638. Endless conveyers. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. 23 April, 1969 [9 Jan., 1969], No. 20726/69. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F2] A transmission gear arrangement comprises main gearing for driving a conveyer &c. chain, and selectable auxiliary gearing for tensioning the chain during maintenance so that it can be coupled, the auxiliary gearing having a selflocking gear, which prevents torque reversal and relaxation of the chain, comprising a worm, and worm-wheel, mounted on an axially displaceable shaft constituting the gear selecting device. The main drive to the chain is through an input shaft 2, bevel gears 8, 9, gears 13, 14, 17, 18 and an output shaft 3. The auxiliary drive which provides a greater step-down ratio for the chain than the main drive is from an hydraulic &c. motor (6), Fig. 3 (not shown), through gears 22, 32, a worm 26 and a worm-wheel 27, and a clutch 28, 30 to the main drive at a shaft 10, which carries the gear 13. The clutch member 28 and worm-wheel 27 are carried on an axially movable shaft 31, operated by a lever (7), Fig. 1 (not shown), which enables the clutch members 28, 30 to engage, for operation of the auxiliary drive.
