Abstract

1,060,707. Textile treating apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK BENNINGER A.G. June 10, 1965 [June 16, 1964], No. 24633/65. Heading D1L. Apparatus for squeezing out liquid from textile webs comprises first, second, third and fourth substantially co-extensive rollers 10, 11, 12. 13 having their axes substantially parallel and arranged in pairs, one roller of each pair being disposed above the other, the first and second rollers 10, 11 being mounted for rotation about fixed axes and capable of being driven and the third and fourth rollers 12, 13 being mounted for movement in at least one' direction transverse to its axis, whereby each can be brought into contact with at least one of the first and second rollers 10, 11. In the embodiment shown rollers 12, 13 are'mounted on pairs of arms 14, 15 eccentrically mounted on shafts 16 and 17. Shafts 16, 17 can be turned by pneumatic or hydraulic pistons so as to move rollers 12, 13 in directions of arrows A, B respectively and the arms 14, 15 can be pivoted about the respective shafts by further pneumatic or hydraulic means 30, 31 to move rollers 12, 13 in the direction of arrows C and D. By various combinations of such movements the rollers 12, 13 can be brought individually into engagement with either or both rollers 10, 11 to give various combinaions of roller contact, (Figs. 2-10, not shown). Treating liquid can be maintained in a central enclosure between all four rollers and/or between the nip of two rollers, the material being treated being guided in any suitable way through the various nips between the rollers. Guide rollers 42, 43 (Fig. 2, not shown) may be used to ensure both sides of the web material being treated and a separate treatment bath in which the material passes around a single immersed roller or a plurality of rollers in zig-zag fashion may be used in combination with the apparatus. Also the web may be dried or otherwise treated between two liquid treaments.
