Abstract
1,212,545. Sizing apparatus. MASCHINEENFABRIK BENNINGER A.G. 17 Nov., 1967 [22 Nov., 1966], No. 52344/67. Heading D1L. An apapratus for sizing warp comprises a container 2 for a sizing agent 3, a squeezing zone formed by two rollers 4, 7 the nip 16 of which coincides with the level of the agent 3 in the bath, and a second squeezing nip formed between a pivotally mounted roller 19 and roller 4, the nip 21 of which also is coincident with the bath level, the roller 4 being immersed in the sizing agent and the roller 7 being constructed as a movably mounted pressure roller. The roller 4 is driven. Roller 7 is moved through the action of a piston and cylinder arrangement 14, 15, and is mounted at one end of a pivoted lever 9. Roller 19 is similarly movable. An additional roller 22 may be provided for movement into or out of contact with roller 7. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 the bath 2 contains a second sizing zone having only a pair of rollers the mirror image of rollers 4, 7. A warp K thus passes through nip 21, over roller 4, through nip 16, through the sizing agent and out through the nip of rollers 4, 7 in the second zone. Several examples are given in which a sizing bath comprises at least one zone as illustrated to the left of Fig. 1 with or without one or more zones as shown to the right of Fig. 1. More than one warp may be treated simultaneously (Fig. 10).
