A stuffer box comprises two co-operating pressure rollers, and a crimping chamber having two press plates, one of which, 5, is tiltable into contact with the other, 4, and side plates 3 mounted on thrust pistons 10, Fig. 2, (not shown), so that they can be spaced from the press plates to allow the chamber to be cleaned. Plates 2 which enclose the sides of the rollers are fixed to plates 3.
