Abstract

A Morel type carding engine includes a main carding cylinder around the periphery of which passes a lap. The carding cylinder is of sufficiently large diameter that first and second trash removal rollers separated by a card roll assembly can be arranged around and co-operate with the periphery of the carding cylinder to card and remove trash from the lap. Better removal of trash is achieved and since two trash removal rollers co-operate with a single carding cylinder the overall size of the carding engine is reduced.
