Abstract

Removal of waste from the drum of a carding machine of the cover type by means of a waste removal roll cooperating with the drum at a position located between the place where material is supplied to the drum and that where the drum begins to cooperate with the cover plates, the waste being removed continuously from the waste-removal roll (I). More especially (I) is driven in the opposite direction to, and at a lower peripheral speed than the drum. Particularly for use in removal of waste in cover-type machines having stationary carding plates.
