Abstract

975,882. Baling presses. SCHWERMASCHINERIBAU ERNST THALMAN. VEB. Aug.21, 1963, No. 33122/63. Heading B5F. [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for enclosing a compressed bale in a protective cloth covering comprises clothcarrying rollers 5, 5A and 9, 9A mounted in holders 6, 6A and recesses 8 in lower and upper press members 4 and 7 respectively of a baling press. The two sets of rollers are arranged at 90 degrees to each other so that each length of cloth can cover the bale on three sides. Adjoining edges of the cloth are subsequently sewn together. Grooves 11 in the pressure members enable metal bands to be applied to the bale. The rollers are longitudinally hinged (Fig. 3, not shown) and provided with spikes to hold the cloth.
