Abstract

970,621. Textile treating apparatus. FLEISSNER G.m.b.H. Feb. 28, 1962 [March 13, 1961], No. 7773/62. Heading D1L. In a method of increasing the operating speed and improving the back washing effect of a wet treatment process, the material being treated is squeezed at least once below the level of liquid in a bath, in such a manner that the liquid boundary layer surrounding the material is only partly destroyed during the squeezing process. In the arrangement shown material 1 is fed into a bath 4 around a screen drum 2 with a number of squeeze rollers 6 pressing there-against, and then out of the bath and between a pair of press rollers 7, 8. At least one of the rollers 6 is, for example, a serrated roller or a roller with helical and or axial recesses of any kind so that some liquid passes with the material between the rollers. Alternatively two rollers with toroidal projections may co-operate, the projections facing each other or being in an offset relationship. Further the rollers may consist of individual segments, alternate segments being larger and smaller, or there may be a plurality of circumferential grooves in the roller surface. The squeeze roller may be adjustable in height and/or laterally so that their position can be varied. The liquid squeezed out of the material by rollers 7, 8 may pass back to the bath 4 along the material or it may be collected in a separate tank which is connected to the main bath 4 through a non-return valve and a suitable pump operated by the liquid level in the separate tank.
