Abstract

1,026,304. Rollers. REVERTEX Ltd. July 13, 1964 [July 18, 1963], No. 28550/63. Heading F2U. [Also in Division D1] A squeeze roller for use in combination with another roller for the removal of liquid from an impregnated material such as non-woven fabric, or paper (see Division D1), is provided with a peripheral layer of resiliently deformable material e.g. natural or synthetic rubber, and having surface projections of a harder material, e.g. metal, such that the projections will sink into the deformable material under pressure at the nip between the rollers. As shown in Fig. 2, the roller consists of a rubber cylinder 7 (of 40 Shore hardness) on a spindle 8 and the surface of which carries a helical winding 9 of stainless steel wire. The winding may be replaced by wire mesh. In the form shown in Fig. 4 the surface of the roller carries a series of individual projecting pegs 10. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), metal inserts are mounted on a series of rubber discs secured axially along the roller spindle.
