Abstract

244,581. Strachan, W. Dec. 11, 1924. Rollers.-A damping or inking roller for printing-machines is formed of perforated felt discs 1 threaded on a stock 3 and enclosed in a sheath 9. The discs 1 are secured between washers 7, 8, one of which abuts against a stop 4 and the other being adjusted by a nut 6. Stiffening-discs 10 of less diameter than the felt discs and of aluminium or other metal or material not susceptible to attack by printing ink, may be interposed between the felt discs, and the felt discs may have additional perforations. The sheath 9, which is of moleskin in the case of the damping- roller and of leather or like material in the case of an inking-roller, has its ends drawn in and stitched over the washers 7, 8.
