Abstract

1,193,710. Textile treating apparatus. VEPA A.G. 10 Nov., 1967 [3 Dec., 1966], No. 51184/ 67. Heading D1L. Textile material in a continuous length 4, e.g. tow, slivers, yarn, woven and knitted fabrics, needled felts, tufteds and fibre fleeces, is wet treated by being guided through a liquid treatment bath 2 around at least one perforated suction drum 3 immersed in the liquid, and on leaving the liquid the material 4 is passed around a partially immersed roll 6, also connected to suction but having a baffle 10 such that only a portion 11, away from the liquid bath 2, exerts suction on the material 4. Roller 6 applies suction to that side of the material 4 not previously in contact with the drum 3. A baffle 12 in drum 3 blocks the suction effect over that area of the drum surface not contacted by material. A roll 5, similar to roll 6, may be located to feed the material on to the drum 3. Alternatively rolls 5 and 6 may be solid, and separate suction means 9 located before and after them respectively. In a second embodiment the material passes over two perforated drums in the liquid bath 2, one drum vertically above the other, the arrangement being that liquid is sucked through the material into one drum and out of the other drum back through the material.
