[Class 140] [Also in Group XVI] A reservoir or duct to contain dye or ink for use in dyeing or printing materials is formed by pairs of horizontal rollers 1, 2 pressed into contact with each other, and end walls for the reservoir are formed by fluid-tight plates or flanges 3, which are mounted on the shaft 5 of the roller 1 or 2 so as to be pressed by springs against the end surfaces of the rollers. The plates 3 are detachably secured to spring-pressed plungers which are each mounted in a recess in a shaft 5. The rollers 1 may be rubber covered, and the plates 3 lined with ebonite 17, and as shown in Fig. 2, one plate 3 is mounted on each roller 1, 2 so as to ensure even wear. As shown in Fig. 5, two rollers 2, 2<SP>1</SP> co-operate with one roller 1 to form the reservoir, and the web to be dyed or dressed is led around the roller 2, between rollers 2, 1 over a roller 19 and between rollers 1, 2<SP>1</SP>. In a modification the rollers 2, 21 are arranged so that the axes of the rollers 2, 1, 2<SP>1</SP> are in the same horizontal plane so that two reservoirs are formed, and the web is treated with liquid while passing between rollers 2, 1 and 1, 21.
