[Also in Division B4] A tool 10 for inserting and extracting a removable electrical contact 19 in a bore 16 of an electrical connector insulator block 17 comprises a tubular member 13, 14 having a projection 15 for removably securing the tool in the bore and with a stop member 22 provided in order to prevent the inadvertent insertion of the tool into the bore, thereby removing the electrical contact. The tool, which may be made from rubber or plastics material, is normally fitted over a conductor wire 12 joined to the contact 19 and inserted into the bore 16 until the end of the stop abuts a face 27 of the block, Fig. 3 (not shown), the resilience of the tool retaining the tool in this position. In use, if it is required to remove a contact, the tool is moved further into the bore so as to open spring fingers 32 of a contact retaining clip 25, Fig. 6 (not shown). By squeezing the portion 14 of the tool on to the conductor 12 the contact may be withdrawn. The tool may be split longitudinally in order to facilitate its assembly on to the conductor. In modifications, the projection 15 may be in the form of a semicircular annular flange or the portion 13 of the tool may be of hexagonal cross-section so that the corners provide a number of projections.
