Abstract

1,044,476. Travelling-wave tubes. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. June 8, 1964 [June 7, 1963], No. 23739/64. Heading H1D. The cathode, e.g. of an M-type travelling-wave tube, has a potential applied across its emitting surface to minimize diocotron effects on the beam. The beam travels between two opposing electrodes having a positive and negative potential applied respectively to them, and the cathode surface lies parallel and adjacent to the negative electrode, a point on the surface remote from the negative electrode being positive with respect to a point nearer the negative electrode. A meshed cathode or a plurality of discrete elements forming a system of elementary cathodes may be used.
