Abstract

1,040,314. Velocity-modulated tubes. CONTINENTAL ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING CO. June 5, 1963 [July 5, 1962], No. 22351/63. Heading H1D. [Also in Division H3] A velocity-modulated electron beam tube, e.g. a three-cavity klystron amplifier, includes at least two modulating anodes 28, 35 between the cathode 18 and the main body of the tube, so that a modulating pulse potential may be graded across the anodes, thus preventing highvoltage arcing. As shown, anodes 28, 35 are supported between ceramic insulators 27, 34, 40, and may be pulsed from 0 and 70 v. relative to the cathode at cut-off, to 70 and 140 v. respectively.
