Abstract

1,044,441. Travelling wave tubes. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO. Ltd. June 28, 1963 [Dec. 3, 1962], No. 45489/62. Heading H1D. A travelling wave tube is provided with a hollow tubular collector electrode maintained at a potential which is negative with respect to a delay line, and secondary electrons produced by the impact of the primary electron beam are trapped inside the collector by providing a hollow member of magnetic material fitted as a lining to the tubular collector electrode. The magnetic member is preferably a coil of nickel wire and it may be superficially treated with carbon black so as to minimize secondary electron emission.
