[Also in Division A3] A shoe closure device comprises in its simplest form clips 2 which are sprung into lacing eyelets on uppers A and B and a strap 1 attached to one clip, passed round the other and secured to itself by engagement of filamentary hooks on part 1a with loops on part 1b. Where there are three eyelets a wider clip is used which straddles the middle eyelet. The clips may be connected by an endless elastic band 4, Fig. 8 not shown. In a further form of closure device, Fig. 17 not shown, the clips 2 are replaced by eyelets 8 projecting through slots 10 in the uppers and the strap is detachably secured at one end to an eyelet by means of a hook 11. Instead of the hook and loop fastening an elastic strap carrying length-adjusting means has one end hooked to one clip and the other end passed round the second clip and then hooked on to the first clip, Fig. 10 not shown. Alternative forms of clip are secured in the eyelets by rivets 7, Fig. 12 not shown, or rivets 7a and counter discs 7b, Fig. 16 not shown. In closure devices including two straps each strap is secured to a mounting plate attached to the upper by studs 13, is passed around a common buckle and then secured to itself by hook and loop fastening means, or the straps may carry only hooks, the buckle itself carrying the loops. A single strap comprising parts 1a and 1b carrying loops and hooks respectively and secured to one upper may be used with a buckle secured to the other upper.
