Abstract

1,101,492. Strap fastenings; buckles. S. M. COLLINS. 9, Feb., 1965 [14, Feb., 1964], No. 5511/65. Heading E2A. A fastener comprises studs 26, 28 adapted to project from portions 20, 22 of a garment, a strip of material 50 adapted to join the portions under tension by means of fastener elements 40 each having an aperture 42 adapted to receive the head of a stud 26 or 28 and each having means to receive the strip 50 therethrough and positioned to exert pressure on the strip when the stud is received through the aperture. As shown, opposed flaps constituting the portions 20, 22 of a garment, such as a shoe, which are interconnected by a tongue element 24, are each provided with the studs 26, 28 which are adapted to snap-engage the apertures 42 in the fastener elements 40 and thereby to trap under pressure respective ends 52 of the strip 50 threaded through the elements 40. The strip may be a tape of fabric or plastics material. In other arrangements, Figs. 5 to 13 (not shown), the elements 40 are modified by the use of sliding bars or by the spacing of the upper and lower parts of the elements, with the object of improving the grip exerted on the tensioned strip.
