Abstract
246,758. Marinsky, D. Sept. 29, 1925. Sliding-clasp fastenings of the type in which a series of elements arranged on the edges of the fabric are brought into engagement by a sliding member. The engaging elements are formed from wire 20, Fig. 6, bent to form a loop 20<a> and two superimposed loops 20b, and the loops 20<a> are bent to form concave hook-shaped faces for engagement with the opposite loops. The loops 20<b> are threaded on to a strand of flexible material 21, Fig. 10, and a covering strip 22 with spaced holes to pass over the loops 20 is placed over them and may be used to secure the elements to the edges of the article to be fastened. The fasteners may be locked by a rod passing through the loops. The sliding clasp may be made in one piece or in three pieces joined together by ears 39, Fig. 4, on the centre spacing piece 38, engaging slots in the outer pieces. The fasteners may be suitably painted, enamelled or plated.
