Abstract

877,004. Brassieres. MOSS, J. E. Oct. 1 1959 [Oct. 8, 1958], No. 32049/58. Class 141 A brassiere is provided with a vent or tuck 17 extending downwardly from the upper edge of each cup and a tape of adjustable length extending between opposite edges of the vent or tuck and connected to an anchorage on the adjacent shoulder strap. In Fig. 1, the adjustable tape 23 and shoulder strap 20 are passed through two rings 19 carried by a breast-outlining strap 18 which extends between opposite sides of the cup; the strap 18 may be elastic. In a nursing brassiere the inner ends of the two straps 18 are joined together and releasably fastened to the centre of the brassiere by a hook and eyelet or a button fastening. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown) the straps 18 are omitted, the rings are carried by the shoulder strap, and a stiffener extends around the lower edge of each cup. In a further modification, Fig. 7, the adjustable shoulder straps 20 each carry a D-ring 33 with a hooked extension 34 for supporting the strap 18, and the adjustable tape 35 extending between opposite sides of the vent or tuck carries a hook 36 for engagement with the ring 33. The vent is backed by a tongue attached at one edge. The Provisional Specification describes also a brassiere wherein the tuck or vent is adjustable by means of ribbon lacing or buckled tapes.
