765,416. Traction harness. SPENCER (BANBURY), Ltd., and SCOTT, B. O. Feb. 28, 1955, No. 5897/55. Class 81(2) A traction harness comprises two belts, one the upper belt. to encircle the lower thoracic area and the other. the lower belt, to encircle the pelvic girdle, each belt comprising a main portion to extend round the back and sides and a frontal pad; straps for securing the main portion to the pad and means for attaching the upper part of the upper belt and the lower part of the lower belt to traction means. The main portion of each belt comprises a back portion 1 and side portions 2 secured to a frontal pad 11, 21 by straps provided with slide buckles 18, 28 for securing to hooks 12, 13, 29, 30 on the frontal pad 11, 21. For each belt two sets of straps are provided, one set 14, 15 or 24, 25 being secured to the main portion of the belt adjacent the ends of its sides on the outer side thereof and the other set 16, 17 or 26, 27 being secured at a distance from its ends and on the inside of the main portion so that the belts may be accommodated to all types and sizes of patient. The frontal pad 11 of the upper belt is padded to reduce restriction in breathing. The upper belt is provided with straps 3, 4 carrying rings 9, 10 by which traction is applied to the belt, the straps 3, 4 being fixed to the back portion 1 and secured to the side portions 2 by spring hooks 5, 6 which engage one of the rings 7, 8 attached to the upper edge of the belt. Traction is applied to the lower edge of the lower belt by means of rings 22, 23 secured to the side portions.
